Sickness Absence Management Training
Absence management training by COPE looks holistically at absence, focusing on achieving the highest levels of attendance for your
organisation – not simply reducing the percentage absence rate by following procedures.

aspects of absence prevention and management in the workplace.

The course uses a range of learning techniques including teaching, hand-outs, practical exercises including role-play, quizzes,
absence management 'tools' and case studies.

| Follow-up: |
Follow up tools will be available to delegates to ensure that training is transferrable to their workplace and to maximise
the value of their learning.

DSE Assessor training
DSE assessor training will allow your delegates to assess the DSE risks for staff within your company, using the appropriate processes
and forms, and develop risk reducing control measures. Our 1 day DSE Assessor Training course provides your staff with all the knowledge and
skills needed to tackle most DSE issues in the workplace.

Written test on the day of the training.

Manual Handling Training
Back in Shape is COPE’s nationwide Manual Handling training programme based on the latest research into effective manual handling
training. The course covers all the key theoretical issues, but also includes a practical session where delegates apply their knowledge to
their own workplace tasks.

| Objectives: |
To develop an awareness of the structure and use of upper limbs, backs and bodies during manual handling activities.
Apply the idea of BELT (Body/Behaviour/ Load/Task) to identifying and reducing risk related to these in the workplace.

Interactive session in the employees’ workplace where they identify risks ("Seeing Red!") and
see for themselves how to reduce those risks ("Going Green!").
|
| Assessment: |
Written tests and certificates of attendance are available if required. (There is no legal obligation to include a test). |

Manual Handling Train the Trainer
Back in Shape manual handling train the trainer programme is a 2 day course in which delegates are provided with the necessary skills,
knowledge and resources required to run an effective manual handling train the trainer session.

To develop an awareness of the structure and use of upper limbs, back and bodies during manual handling activities.

To develop the skills and knowledge to enable delegates to teach other staff the objectives of the course.

Discussion and demonstration during the course. Individual presentation of developed training style using the provided materials.

Presentation section (0.5) days may be set to a later date to allow delegates to prepare presentations.

| Assessment: |
Delegates are assessed on their ability to host the training and a practical session. Upon succesful completion, delegates
are certified to host Back In Shape session for up to 3 Years before retesting is required.

Ergonomics Training Courses
Ergonomics training courses aim to train staff on applying Ergonomic methods of assessment and problem solving in order to address a wide
variety of problems, such as efficiency bottlenecks, workplace layout and design and task analysis.

| Ergonomics Training Courses: Ergonomic Champion
|
| Duration: |
2 days (don’t have to be concurrent).

Min 4 – Max 8.

To provide delegate with a basic understanding of some ergonomics principles.
Identify ergonomics issues/problems and input into discussions regarding the development of ergonomic assessment and solutions.
The latest principles & techniques for Ergonomic Assessments. Tools include QEC, MAC, ART, REBA and RULA.
Psychological training on Stress and a practical exercise on Behaviour change is also included.

such as stretches and exercises to prevent postural discomfort.

Resilience Training
Symptoms of work related stress can arise when work demands exceed an individual’s resources or capacity. Building resilience reduces
the likelihood of employees experiencing distress. Just as exercise helps to build physical capacity, COPE’s Resilience Training
helps managers and employees improve their capacity to respond and adapt in today’s stressful, fast-changing world, whilst enhancing
