Audiometry (Hearing) Testing or Screening

Hearing tests are assessments of an employee’s hearing using a machine called an Audiometer. The process is correctly termed “Audiometry”.

When should I perform these tests on my employees?

Under the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005, employees that are exposed to high levels of noise (over 80dBa) will require an audiometry test.

Why choose COPE Occupational Health?

According to The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005, over 1 million employees in the UK are exposed to levels of noise which put their hearing at risk. Like many occupational diseases, prevention is the key. At COPE we provide on or offsite audiometry testing for your employees, and where appropriate hearing conservation advice and all reporting to management, employees and GP’s.

COPE will always provide a fully qualified and competent health practitioner to conduct these tests on your employees. We can arrange either individual appointments at our Nottingham Clinic or we can visit your site to provide “in-house” testing sessions. We can also combine this testing with your other health surveillance and/or fitness for work assessments needs if required.

The assessment will entail a paper health questionnaire and a full hearing test (using a Pure Tone Audiometer calibrated to the latest HSE standards).

Employees undergoing these assessments will require periodic reviews, the frequency of which will depend on risk, clinical need and HSE guidelines.

Some employees that are identified as having new or worsening symptoms may require referral to our Occupational Health Physician.
