Confined Space Assessment
A confined space assessment is designed to screen employees who operate in confined spaces, in order to identify any potential health
problems that may impair their fitness to work in such environments.
Why conduct confined space assessments?
Under the Confined Space Regulations 1997 you
may need to obtain advice on an employee’s “fitness” for that work, dependent on the findings of your
risk assessment. COPE can provide you with this advice.
The assessment will include a paper/online questionnaire, which will be reviewed by a fully trained and competent practitioner, followed
by an assessment of the employee’s health as per accepted medical standards.
Employees undergoing these assessments will require periodic reviews, the frequency of which will depend on risk, clinical need and
HSE guidelines.
Some employees that are identified as having new or worsening symptoms may require referral to our Occupational Health Physician.
